I started taking banjo lessons in 1977 when I was a teenager living in Oceanside, California.
After moving back to Houston I took lessons from Tony Ullrich. From 1980 to 1982
I attended South Plains College in Levelland, Texas and earned an Associate of Arts degree in
Bluegrass Music.
Over the years I have performed with various bands in Houston, College Station, and Austin.
I am currently performing with the band "Hard To Make a Living", based in Austin. We play
bluegrass, western swing, country, and gospel music at weddings, parties, and various events
throughout central Texas.
Though I really love music and playing the banjo, my greatest joy comes from knowing
Jesus Christ. I am convinced there is nothing in this world to compare with the love of God.
I'm not talking about being religious, or being a good person, or church affiliation.
I'm talking about knowing Jesus Christ personally, talking to Him daily, trusting Him to lead me,
feeling His presence, and seeing Him work in my life.
Here are some bible verses that I find encouraging:
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed
away; behold, new things have come." II Corinthians 5:17
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; No one comes to the
Father but through me." John 14:6
"The thief come only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life,
and have it abundantly." John 10:10
"The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take
refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." Psalm 18:2
